What’s happening with Young’s Farm?

Have you felt the temperature change? The nights are cooling off and the leaves on the trees are becoming scarce. That means Autumn has arrived and we feel it on the farm. Our last set of corn is coming off late due to the cool evenings (yes we still have some sweet corn) and the pumpkins are turning bright orange and bursting out of the rows of vines. Autumn on the farm means colorful Indian corn and decorative gourds. Our turkeys are ranging in stages from growing youngins to plump biguns and the pumpkin festival planning is well underway. We are anxiously awaiting the start of our 20th annual pumpkin festival this fall. The festival will offer our traditional family fun during the month of October- but please note we are only having the festival three weekends this year instead of four. These weekends will be jam packed with live entertainment, great food and lots of fun for the kids so make arrangements now to get to the 20th Annual Young’s Farm Pumpkin Festival

What’s happening with Young’s Farm?
Here are some answers to you frequent questions.

Over the past four years we have made every effort to preserve the uniqueness of this land and the traditions it has offered to our family and yours. Unfortunately, our endeavor did not end with the success we had hoped for and we have decided to sell the farm. We wanted to provide you with as much information as we can at this time.

So who’s going to buy the farm?
It has been our goal since January of 2005, when we began entertaining offers from potential buyers, to find a company that will preserve as much of the history and traditions of the farm as possible. We have looked for the right organization to develop the farm into something where families will live, the community, both local and state, will continue to have access, and so the town of Dewey-Humboldt will continue to benefit. It is a little early to give out specifics, but please believe that the legacy we leave is as important to us as we know it is to you.

How long will the current farm stay open?
The good news is that Young’s Farm as you know it will enjoy two more fall seasons. The farm will stay operational through December of 2006 offering pumpkin festivals, turkeys and lots of family fun to our customers.

On behalf of the Young Family we want to thank you for your continued support over the years. We hope to offer fresh Young’s Farm poultry through your local grocer or butcher shop as well as quality products through the Young’s Farm online store. Save the Farm
