June 2005 - It's summer time and the hay is for sale.
In this issue At Young's Farm our seasons are determined not only by the change in
weather patterns, but also by what product is coming off the fields. When
the hay is ready usually around the middle of June we know that Spring is
winding down and Summer is rolling in. When the corn comes off in late July
we prepare for the hard summer monsoons and know that we are in the thick of
the summer season. When the corn fades out and pumpkins turn orange we are
reminded that it is almost fall once again. That is how the mind of a farmer
works - not by dates but by planting and picking schedules. At this time of
year our beardless barley and red clover hay has been stacked in the barn and
is available for you to purchase. It makes great horse hay and sells for $5.00
a bale. They are two-string bales and weigh approximately 65-70 pounds. If you
would like to purchase some hay just bring your truck or trailer to the farm
and stop in the Farm Store to pay for your hay. The employees will direct you
to the hay barn and someone should be available to help you load if needed.
Hope you all had a great spring and we will see you this summer!
